Narromine Hospital has received a new HoverMatt thanks to Narromine Health Service Fundraisers.
The inflatable mat cost $4054, and will assist hospital staff in the movement of patients.
Narromine Health Service Fundraisers raised the money from their Doll and Craft Show held in October last year, which they anticipate will be an annual event.
The competition is the largest city end of a Inflatable Slides children’s Go tournament. The competition is divided into child care group, a grade group, the second grade group, third grade group, the fourth grade group, more than a fifth-grade group (under 16 years of age), a total of six groups. Competition Yizhong water locations in the world and the Children’s Palace 2, in accordance with arrangements for the situation.
Health Services Manager Ann Chad is very grateful to the group.
“They’ve been very generous and the staff are very appreciative of their generosity,” she said.
“We are most appreciative of having the mat and look forward to further association with Narromine Health Service Fundraisers.”
Leona Lodding decided to form the fundraising committee last year to replace the hospital’s ECG machine when it broke down.
Sorry,I must go.
They managed to obtain government funding for the machine, but decided to go ahead and continue to raise money for the hospital.
The Doll and Craft Show will be their primary fundraiser with all proceeds contributing to equipping the hospital.
Mrs Lodding said last year’s show was a “fantastic spectacle” which attracted people to Narromine.
“It had double benefits,” she said.
I will tell you in next time!
“I’d like to thank everybody who helped us in any way - even if it was just buying a raffle ticket - and I hope the community will continue to support us in the future,” she said.
“We need the hospital and we need it fully equipped,” Mrs Lodding said.
The next item for purchase is a number of patient support sitting chairs, which cost between $600 and $800 each. If anyone in the community would like to become a member of the Narromine Health Service Fundraisers contact Leona Lodding on 6889 4473 or Lillian King on 6889 4271.

Inflatable boats to the rescue

If marine patrol required officers to cruise around in peaceful, calm waters and wave to all the happy, well-mannered, law-abiding boaters, then the kind of vessel you captained in this fantasy wouldn’t really matter. Anyone who has spent a few hours on this duty will tell you, the truth is far grittier. The wind whips; the swells grow higher and closer together, striking with kidney-jarring force. Various sundry objects in the water seem to be waiting to turn a navigational misstep into a costly error. As a result, inflatable boats are becoming more familiar to law enforcement agencies, with many versatile and useful features to keep ports safe and secure.

RIBs reduce risks
The nature of marine patrol requires frequent contact with other vessels, for example, pulling up alongside to conduct a search, providing assistance or making an arrest. If a traditional hard-sided watercraft is used, an agency or department risks being sued.
“There’s a lot of litigation because of damage done to boats while boarding or tying up to them,” says Chris Choich, manager of sales and marketing for Seattle, Washington-based Northwind Marine Inc. This is why many agencies are increasingly looking to add Rigid-hull Inflatable Boats (RIBs) to their marine patrol fleets.
Go to have Lunch!
RIBs typically have an aluminum hull that is topped and surrounded with an inflatable collar. Some collars are entirely air-filled, and others are hybrid collars comprised of an air-filled bladder wrapped in foam. Hybrid collars are usually D-shaped, a configuration that allows for more interior space. Some collars are completely foam-filled, which makes them harder and less bouncy than the air-filled or hybrid collars, but still kinder to subject boats than traditional patrol vessels. Various propulsion systems are available, depending upon the manufacturer, as are fuel systems such as gas or diesel.
“The inflatable collar acts as a big shock absorber,” explains Choich. “It’s a fantastic fendering system and the collar morphs when tied up to subject vessels, which makes it safer and more comfortable for boarding other boats.
“Compared to hard-sided boats, RIBs offer improved flotation and absorb impact,” Choich continues. “You can run the boat at higher speeds in rougher water without tearing your body apart.” He says there is much more sea-keeping ability than hard-sided boats that can handle rough conditions in smaller boats compared to the same size traditional patrol boat. “The combination of the deep ‘V’ design with the collar makes for a very stable work platform at rest,” says Choich. “But at the same time, because of the design, it really slices through the water.”
“Forgiving” and buoyant
Because these boats are so forgiving, they are ideal for agencies that may not have full-time marine patrol units, says Mike Sandeman, of North River Boats, located in Roseburg, Oregon. Officers can go from patrol vehicle to patrol boat and manage the vessel quite capably, even if they don’t have a vast amount of experience on the water, he explains.
The water here is very unique. It can be dead calm and then suddenly the wind comes up, and it’s a wall of wind,” Ingraham says. “You can actually see a blue line coming at you across the lake from the wind.” Ingraham says these dangerous conditions have caught people off-guard, swamping boats and sinking them.
Another advantage of RIBs versus hard-sided patrol vessels is their buoyancy, Sandeman says.
“If the boat were filled with water, the outboard motor would still be above the waterline, and the boat would still float,” he says. “It’s virtually unsinkable.”
For all of these reasons, they prefer these boats to fiberglass, says Lt. Peter Croop, manager of marine patrol for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in Tacoma, Washington.
Now we go on.
RIBs vs. hard-sided boats
The Pierce County marine division has 18- and 19-foot inflatable boats, used primarily for patrol on Lake Tapps, located in an urban area. “This lake can get really rough,” Croop says. “You can start out with water that is very calm and end up with 3-foot chop coming at you from all directions.”
Both RIBs are gas outboard motor vessels and reach a maximum speed of 50 mph. One thing Croop likes is that the vessels obtain this speed pretty rapidly. “What you need is the ability to hole shot, to accelerate quickly and get up on someone fast,” he says.
The RIBs are designed with a console located in the center rather than to the left or the right, which affords better visibility on both sides. It also has a towing tower and reel, and 100 feet of tow rope, allowing for patrols to easily tow an average-sized ski boat, or even one twice as large, depending on the conditions. The vessels are equipped with GPS, department RF and VHF marine frequencies — critical for multi-agency uses, says Croop.
There are concerns if fully inflatable collars need constant re-inflation or if they will puncture easily. Croop says they haven’t experienced any of those issues, although he notes the tubes do need replacing after 10 to 15 years, depending on use.
Sorry,I must go.
Functional and versatile
Darren Reid, assistant chief of Camano Island Fire and Rescue, located on Washington’s Puget Sound, uses a 19-foot air-filled inflatable and a 17-foot rigid foam-filled collar.
Reid likes that the vessels can be launched from almost any point “without issue” and the boats can run in shallow water. This is especially important because they have mud flats, he says.
These two examples illustrate some of the factors agencies need to consider when choosing a RIB. If officers patrol an environment with sharp objects, puncture is a consideration. In this instance, a hybrid or foam collar might be a better choice. If shallow water is an issue, this could determine the decision made about propulsion. For example, Sandeman says their vessels, when equipped with a diesel jet, can run in as little as 12 inches of water without damaging the hull or propulsion. If more interior space is desired, a D-shaped hybrid could be the ticket.
These sophisticated choices can be overwhelming for agencies. The following manufacturers offer varying options and choices to law enforcement agencies based on individual needs and situations:
The body of water to patrol and the conditions presented will help dictate the size of the boat.
“If you’re using these vessels in open, rough water, the bigger the better,” says Craig Henderson, president of Bullfrog Boats Inc., located in Bellingham, Washington. “You also want to think about how many people will be on patrol.” A typical number of rescued individuals carried at any time also must be considered.
Size should also be taken into account when considering the propulsion/fuel system, says Sandeman. “For example, gas jets are good on small boats, but on larger, you want diesel because they are more powerful and the fuel consumption is less.”
Quick-response RIBs
Eric Ingraham, a volunteer with the Pyramid Lake Piute Tribe Search and Rescue, says weather and lake conditions determined their watercraft of choice, a 27-foot RIB with a hybrid collar. Located 30 miles north of the Reno/Sparks area, this desert lake can turn ugly in seconds due to the wind. Ingraham says wind is a factor in about 80 percent of their rescues.
“The water here is very unique. It can be dead calm and then suddenly the wind comes up, and it’s a wall of wind,” Ingraham says. “You can actually see a blue line coming at you across the lake from the wind.” Ingraham says these dangerous conditions have caught people off-guard, swamping boats and sinking them.
“But this is when our boat performs beautifully,” he says. “I wouldn’t feel comfortable in any other boat.”
As specifications indicate, over the years, these vessels have become a great deal more sophisticated.
“The old term ‘inflatables’ once meant a simple rubber raft,” says Ken McFalls, vice president of sales for SeaArk Marine Inc., located in Monticello, Arkansas. “Nowadays, we may be describing a complex, multi-mission, twin diesel powered, high speed, 40- or 50-foot craft.”

LANSING — It started as a way to fund the journey, but it turned out to be the destination.
These sophisticated choices can be overwhelming for agencies. The following manufacturers offer varying options and choices to law enforcement agencies based on individual needs and situations:
As a college freshman, Drew Donner — now a senior studying entrepreneurship at Central Michigan University — started Best Books Around, an online business he hoped would help pay for his college education.
Four years later, Donner’s online book venture has done more than just pay for his textbooks.
In 2007, Best Books Around competed with Barnes&Noble.com and Amazon.com, shipping more than 30 truckloads of books to customers around the world and raked in $82,000.
Now Donner, who will graduate in May, plans to turn his virtual bookstore into the bricks-and-mortar variety.
To be continued.
Donner, born in Midland and raised in Atlanta, Ga., is an example of entrepreneurial success that the Small Business Association of Michigan — SBAM — believes is an important piece of the puzzle in solving the state’s economic troubles.
On Feb. 7, SBAM, with Crain’s Detroit Business, will release an entrepreneurial scorecard, said Todd Anderson, its vice president of government relations.
The report assesses a number of factors, ranging from tax structure to quality of life to diversity, to determine how friendly Michigan is to entrepreneurship, Anderson said.
The scorecard will show that “there are a number of positive signs for entrepreneurship, and there are things we think need work,” Anderson said.
Vessels in the Commander Series are available in 21-, 23-, 25- and 27-foot sizes with horsepower ranges from 225 to 600. The Dauntless Series consists of eight different sizes ranging from 28 feet up to 55 feet. Horsepower ranges from 600 to 1,300, and propulsion is provided by twin outboards.
One thing in need of work is entrepreneurial education.
Anderson said it’s an essential component of encouraging entrepreneurship, even if he, as many people might, consider entrepreneurship a natural talent rather than a learned skill.
“Entrepreneurial education is a critical culture change. Our universities can do more to give naturally talented entrepreneurs the tools they need to be successful,” he said.
Four of Michigan’s 15 public universities offer degrees in entrepreneurship — CMU, Eastern Michigan University, Northern Michigan University and Ferris State University. Grand Valley State University and Oakland University offer minors in entrepreneurship. Almost all 28 community colleges have courses geared toward entrepreneurship.
CMU’s program began nine years ago and is the university’s second-largest business major with 600 graduates so far, James Damitio, director of entrepreneurship, said.
Traditional business programs teach students to be middle managers at large companies — not the same skill set an entrepreneur needs, Damitio said.
Mohan Tanniru, dean of Oakland’s School of Business Adminstration, agrees with Damitio. “Large companies aren’t hiring, so we can’t train students for jobs at big companies that might not exist. Students need a broader base, skills for small companies, and the best way to provide them with that is through entrepreneurial programs.”
Entrepreneurial talent and training not only paid off for Donner, but also for his classmate Cason Thornsby of Davison.
Like Donner, Thornsby launched his business as a freshman, a party rental company called Elite Tent Rental.
Thornsby started with one tent, eight tables and 64 chairs. Four years later, it has grown to include dance floors, inflatable obstacle courses and one thousand chairs.
Beyond weddings and bar mitzvahs, Thornsby has branched into cuisine with his latest venture, Hunter’s Choice Soup Co. He partnered with a chef in Birch Run to bring soups with names like “peasant noodle” and “wild boar and bean” to more than 50 sporting goods and grocery stores around the state.
Anderson concedes that not everyone has the entrepreneurial spirit of creative ideas and a high tolerance for risky investments.
And there will be people who prefer plain old chicken noodle soup — literally and metaphorically.
Regardless, entrepreneurship is important because traditional jobs with large companies might not hold as much promise as they have in the past, said Chuck Fitzpatrick, director of the LaBelle Entrepreneurial Center at CMU.
“We would love to see high-tech development in the life sciences, in alternative energy, but we believe it would will be quite limited. We firmly believe it will be one entrepreneur at a time,” he said.
Go to have Lunch!
To help such individuals, SBAM will propose a legislative package to stimulate entrepreneurship, Anderson said. In addition to education, issues such as tax policy and business regulations might be included, he said.
Meanwhile, Donner is gambling that Fitzpatrick’s prediction is right. “I’m hoping entrepreneurship will play a huge role in the economy in the years to come. One-third of companies started are really successful, but two-thirds do fail, so you never know.”

Ben Macintyre gets lost in mistranslation in China

i RECENTLY VISITED THE GREAT WALL of China and found myself lost in awe. I was overpowered with admiration, stunned by the sheer ingenuity of the mistranslated noticeboard at its foot. Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to render the rules into English; each word had been analysed with extraordinary care - and each was very slightly wrong.
It began: “Please don’t carve arbitrarily on the Great Wall. Protect one brick and one stone conscientiously.” Then the signwriter offered a couple of suggestions: “In order to keep fit no spitting” and “Please pay attention to your safety in the rain and snow weather.” Before this rousing coda: “Please walk carefully on abrupt slope and dangerous way: Don’t run and pushes to pash violently and the laugh and frolic.”
Sorry,I must go.
Mistranslated English is one of the great pleasures of travelling abroad. It is, I suppose, one of the privileges of a lingua franca that English-speakers have more opportunities than anyone else to see their tongue twisted. I am sure that our efforts to translate for the benefit of visitors are just as inadvertently amusing.
Mistranslations often seem to have a sort of internal poetry, conveying far more meaning than an accurate version, and sometimes offer a small glimpse into the mind of the translator. I can’t help feeling that the warning not to “pash violently and the laugh and frolic” was written by some curmudgeonly old communist convinced that Westerners do nothing but pash violently and frolic all day.

A little farther along the wall I was introduced to some of the local fauna: “Black bear, eating meat catalog, bear branch.” Then the warning: “Bear is a direct bowel animal so if eat sundry good easy to cause bowel block, especially plastic bag and bottle of mineral water can cause death.” I found that rather moving.
The competition from the top 10 of each man, woman top two from each group. Each have a souvenir of a players. Application deadline: Inflatable Slides December 25. Application
Mistranslated menus offers particularly rich fare, from the “fried nun” found on many an Indian menu and“hambuggers” the world over, to more elaborate preparations such as the “three cute prawns suntanning on the rice”. As Charlie Croker points out in Still Lost in Translation, his second collection of “Misadventures in English Abroad”, there is such competition between restaurants, and such a hunger for the supposed sophistication that English affords, that linguistic over-egging is practically standard. “Fragrant bone in garlic in strange flavour” is, of course, a precise description, if hardly enticing. But English can be just too specific, such as with the Chinese offering of “Dumpling stuffed with the ovary and digestive glands of a crab”.
It only takes one word to go awry for the product to take on a very different complexion, such as the Japanese advert that wonders: “Why does coffee taste so good when you’re naked with your family?” On the other hand, “Believed ham of the country” sounds so much more delicious than the merely “authentic” or “traditional” stuff.
I vividly remember a tailor’s shop sign in India that boldly declared: “Our best is none too good”, and a French wine list promising: “Our wines leave you nothing to hope for.” Then there is the Cypriot restaurant that recommends of its speciality dish: “Try it, and try to forget it.”
As Croker points out, mistranslations can be divided into two categories. In some, one can glimpse what the translator is driving at, however dimly: the “Beach of irregular bottoms” sign in Spain, for example, or “Beware of your luggage”, and the sign outside a cathedral in Cancún, Mexico, that says: “Please keep loud, wild babes out of the sanctuary.” (I have been to Cancún, and the place for loud, wild babes is in the beachfront bars.) I particularly like the sign at Jeddah airport: “You are required to declare all sorts of private things”.
Then there is the variety that simply makes no sense at all, no matter how hard one squints. Take this on an inflatable slide in Jeddah: “Thereto each participant taken circumspection and the carefulness the aquitable”.
The best mistranslations aspire to a degree of philosophical grandeur that would be impossible in both the language of the translator and “correct” English. Take, for example, the creator of the Indian Highway Code, who reaches for a truth more important than mere law-
abiding motoring when he (for it is surely a he) writes: “We should not drive in the drinking mood and with the worries of the mind. At the time of driving, we should not accompany by ladies. If we do it so, it will create accident.”
But before we get too smug about distorted English, it is worth remembering that native English-speakers are just as capable as falling into the elephant traps of the language as anyone else. For just one example, recall the famous sign in a small Cornish hotel: “Will any guest wishing to take a bath please make arrangements to have one with Mrs Harvey.”

Georgian leader may win gamble

TBILISI, GEORGIA — Georgian leader Mikheil Saakashvili sent his countrymen to the polls Saturday in a snap presidential election, a risky gamble designed to quiet complaints of creeping authoritarianism and prove the once and would-be future president is still a pro-democracy icon.
With his credibility on the line, Saakashvili abruptly stepped down as president a year and a half ahead of schedule and called for this weekend’s vote as a referendum on his rule. Observers had begun to question whether presidential power was transforming the popular revolutionary into yet another post-Soviet strongman.
Four years ago, Saakashvili was the young, dapper hero of the so-called Rose Revolution who swept into office with nearly 100% popular backing. On Saturday, he was struggling to top 50% of the vote so he could avoid a runoff.
Saakashvili’s political woes became serious in November, when grumbles of disillusionment exploded onto the streets of this capital city and the Georgian police used tear gas and clubs to beat down anti-government demonstrators. Saakashvili further alienated his allies by declaring a state of emergency and silencing an opposition television station.
Now we go on.
Early results indicated that Saakashvili had won, but just barely. An exit poll gave him more than 53% of the vote.
Bolstered by the numbers, Saakashvili’s supporters poured into the streets to celebrate. But backers of top opposition candidate Levan Gachechiladze said the numbers were falsified and called for a mass rally today.
“Saakashvili is lying. The exit polls have been falsified,” Gachechiladze told reporters Saturday.
The turmoil and doubt that plagued Georgian voters drew a stark picture of the problematic political choices faced by the former Soviet republics, where remnants of the Cold War linger in a struggle for influence between the West and Russia.
Staunch U.S. ally
A Columbia Law School graduate, the 41-year-old Saakashvili has been a staunch U.S. ally since he led his people into the streets in the Rose Revolution that ousted the unpopular government of President Eduard A. Shevardnadze in 2003 and moved the country away from Moscow’s sphere of influence. Under Saakashvili, Georgia sent thousands of troops to join the U.S.-led war in Iraq, made a hard play for NATO member- ship and named a street in Tbilisi after President Bush. American aides bustled around at his press events in the capital last week.
Georgia’s relations with Russia have deteriorated sharply under Saakashvili, who has charged that his opponents are being manipulated by Moscow.
Voters poured into polling stations Saturday, braving ice and snow, children in tow, shivering in long lines. Many voters said they had never felt so politicized; there was a sense that Georgia’s struggling democracy could rise or fall because of Saturday’s vote. And in a country bitterly divided over Saakashvili, both sides appeared unlikely to accept defeat.
“Anybody but Saakashvili,” said Kukori Sukhiashrili, a 71-year-old retired engineer. “He was a democrat, but he betrayed his ideals.”
Huddled with his wife at a polling station door, the grizzled, bright-eyed Sukhiashrili spoke of the sharp disappointment many Georgians had suffered after they boosted the young Saakashvili to office.
The president has failed the poor, Sukhiashrili said. Watching police attack and gas demonstrators in November was the final straw, he added.
“It was a terrible thing. He poisoned his own people, and the Georgian people will not forgive him,” Sukhiashrili said. “If democratic forces don’t win today, I’ll be the first one to run to the demonstrations.”
But other Georgians said they were nervous about power changing hands. Some agreed with Saakashvili, who has warned that if he leaves office, Georgia could lose all the ground gained under his leadership. Saakashvili ran on promises to ease rampant poverty and steer Georgia toward North Atlantic Treaty Organization membership.
“Our democracy needs to survive. We have too many enemies now to take serious risks,” said Manana Turmanidze, a 50-year-old tour company owner who had wrapped herself in a fur coat and tugged a hat low over her brow to stand in a long line outside a polling station in downtown Tbilisi.
Turmanidze said she had deep reservations about Saakashvili, and spoke with outrage over the closure of the opposition television station, Imedi. But she was even more leery of placing Georgia in the hands of a new leader, she said, especially somebody who might have ties to Moscow. The status quo is better than the unknown, she argued.
It’s so tirred.
“We have to forgive the government now for some of its mistakes,” she said soberly. “And there have been a lot of really, really serious mistakes.”

Strategies and Technologies for Energy-Efficient Lighting

Until a few years ago, typical lighting in domestic settings comprised a central pendant.
For rooms where entertaining was done, such as the lounge or dining room, there might be
a couple of wall lights, and the switch plate might be replaced with a dimmer. The total
lighting load might typically be 200W, so to make the lighting more energy-efficient, the
bulbs were replaced with lower wattage ones, thus reducing the power consumption but also
the light level!
To continue reading the complete article, login or register below and get free instant access.
These days, many rooms of a similar size have upwards of a dozen 50W downlights installed,
resulting in a total of 600W or more lighting load. Our lighting demands are clearly increasing,
but at the same time, we are also being encouraged, if not compelled, to be more energy efficient.
It’s so tirred.
Downlights have replaced the central pendant.
The parts of the current and impending building regulations and guidelines that most concern
people, are those that cover energy efficiency. These include efficient heating and cooling
systems, building insulation against heat loss or heat gain, and having a percentage of the
lights as energy efficient. Since most of these energy-efficient lamps are not dimmable however,
and are unsuitable for sometimes complex lighting schemes, they tend to be used in places such
as utility rooms, loft conversions, spare/guest bedrooms, toilets and cloakrooms.
A large proportion of building owners, both home and business, would be prepared to embrace new
technology if they could see a return on their investment sooner. Their main concern is the cost
of systems such as LED or compact fluorescent lighting, but rather than focussing on what they
perceive as the drawbacks, they should be looking to new technology as being able to provide
effective solutions to a range of problems.
Improving efficiency
In short, energy-efficient lighting means getting as much light output from as little energy as
possible. One of the best ways of making lighting more efficient is to have the lights on only
when they are needed, especially in areas such as bathrooms, hallways, utility rooms and kitchens.
Do you remember your parents telling you that a light switch has two functions? Well, if you cannot
rely on your home’s occupants to
switch the lights off when not needed, how about installing presence/movement detectors to control
the lights? You need never have lights left on again, unnecessarily for hours.
When a room has multiple uses, for example a lounge that is used as a TV room, reception room or
playroom, there will be different lighting requirements, depending on its current use. It may
seem obvious, but energy can be saved by only switching on the lights that are required, and
possibly at reduced levels if appropriate.
Task lighting in the kitchen.
When using a lighting system to highlight something decorative such as a painting, sculpture, vase
or flower arrangement, traditionally a huge, usually brass, fitting would be installed to contain
the bulb and reflect the light in the desired direction. The heat and ultra-violet produced by the
light would not only be wasteful, but could be extremely detrimental to the item being highlighted.
Today however, there are many alternatives, ranging from halogen lights where the heat exits through
the reflector and away from the item, to ‘cool lights’ such as LEDs and some gas discharge lamps.
Many of these newer lighting solutions have a very small visual footprint, so you see the item being
highlighted and not the lighting system. These newer lighting systems also have the advantages of
not damaging the artwork with heat and UV; having more natural colouring with light that has the
same frequency as daylight; and the colour being able to be tailored to enhance the item being lit.
Spotlight with small footprint.
Architectural lighting
Using architectural lighting, rooms have the colour, feel and even the perceived texture of the
walls changed to suit the use, time of day, or season. This can now be achieved using LED technology,
especially the multicolour and colour-changing systems.
Unlike older systems inherited from the stage industry, that use a mechanical system to move different
coloured filters in front of the lamp and therefore offer a limited set of colours, contemporary multicolour
and colour-changing LED system lamps usually contain elements that individually produce the three primary
colours, and an element that produces white light. Via the control system, the full spectrum of colours
can be produced by combining various combinations of the primary colours at different intensities.

With the newer LED projection technologies, buildings can be lit from a smaller footprint, hence
discreet lamp housings can be used that can be disguised or hidden from view, and out of reach of
potential tampering. Such systems are on a par with, and often more energy-efficient than, the
older sodium/mercury floodlights. Their lamp life tends to be longer, and they are far more
controllable rather than simply flooding everything with sodium yellow!

LANSING — It started as a way to fund the journey, but it turned out to be the destination.
inflatable china Start here to find prequalified Inflatable suppliers from China and around the world-Inflatable,Inflatable Manufacturer,Inflatable
Sorry,I must go.
According to statistics, in 2000 China’s metal containers in the main products of a total of 1.92 million tons, of which two aluminum cans 7000000000, tinplate three cans (including beverage cans and canned) about 6 billion, 600 million aerosol cans only, and all kinds of caps Yilagai nearly 50 billion, 20-200-litre drums of about 40 million, and other types of solid product packaging drum over 50 million, from about 14.3 billion Printing, India.

Learning Lamp displays inflatable globe
EBENSBURG – The Learning Lamp is unveiling its newest attraction – a 30-foot inflatable globe – on Feb. 18, Presidents Day.
It may be a day off from school, but it won’t be a day free from learning, the nonprofit agency says. The day-long Kids Day Out program will be held at the Young People’s Community Center.
The super-sized sailcloth sphere uses satellite imagery and accommodates up to 30 children at a time. Kids can learn about the world around them literally from the inside out.
Kids Day Out targets pupils in grades K to six from more than a half-dozen elementary schools in central Cambria County. Tuition is $24 for the day and all kids must bring a lunch.

Franklin Street to briefly close
http://www.global-inflatables.com/
PennDOT said Wednesday that Franklin Street between the Hickory Street Bridge and Valley Pike will be closed for about 15 minutes between 3 and 4 p.m. today.
The closing will be done to accommodate blasting work on the hillside above Menoher Boulevard, Route 271, to secure the hill and prevent future landslides.
Motorists can avoid the area by using Hickory Street, Horner Street and Valley Pike.
Menoher has been closed for weeks while PennDOT copes with the aftermath of a rock slide. Delta Excavating of Hermitage is the prime contractor on the $450,000 job.
This is the third round of blasting during the current Menoher Boulevard work.
Balmy weather sets record
Unseasonably warm breezes that flowed into the region from the South smashed the record high temperature for Wednesday’s date.
Wednesday’s reading of 69 degrees, recorded at the weather station atop The Tribune-Democrat in downtown Johnstown, broke the record of 64 degrees, set Feb. 6, 1938.

Relief associations in compliance
HARRISBURG – Two volunteer firefighter relief associations in Somerset County have received a clean bill of health from state Auditor General Jack Wagner.
The Bakersville and Jennerstown relief associations were found to be in compliance with laws and regulations.
VRFAs are nonprofits established to afford financial protection to volunteer firefighters who become injured or other misfortune as a result of their fire service participation.
Osteoporosis promotion launched
HARRISBURG – To heighten awareness about the bone-weakening disease osteoporosis, the Pennsylvania Commission for Women has partnered with the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program to launch a multi-media marketing campaign, including billboards in Bedford and six other counties.
“Osteoporosis is a silent and pervasive disease,” commission executive director, Leslie Stiles said. “So it is important to speak to your health care provider about prevention, risk and testing.
“We hope that women and girls who see these ads will do just that.”
The commission premiered its “Shocking Pink” marketing campaign in 2004. Like its predecessor, this current campaign has a shocking message, as well as a vibrant hot-pink graphic appeal.
Nonprofit recognizes Murtha
U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown, has been recognized by a national nonprofit for his continued support of school districts that serve military children, children of Indian lands, low-rent housing and federal lands.
“Congressman Murtha’s leadership and support has been unwavering,” said John Deegan, president of the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools in a news release.
“As a veteran, Congressman Murtha understands that quality of life, and specifically, the education of children, is paramount to our military personnel.”
Murtha said he was honored to receive the award.

Police: Man hit boy for neglecting pet crab
CONNELLSVILLE – A man assaulted his girlfriend’s
5-year-old son because the boy did not properly care for a pet hermit crab, police said.
The boy told investigators that Robert L. Steindl Jr., 28, of Connellsville, became angry and slapped him across the face because the youngster did not feed and provide water to the crustacean, Connellsville police Chief Ed McSheffery said.
The boy had bruises on his face and inside his ears after the Jan. 30 assault, which happened while his mother was at work, McSheffery said. Police also accuse Steindl of shoving a sponge into the boy’s mouth and throwing him to the ground.
